My first trip back to The Island in 10 years. Seeing most of my family for the first time in a while. I went into this film thinking I’d dedicate it to my grandma who passed during my decade of absence. When I return to The States, I come to find out that my father was suffering a social death. He had been arrested, and was being deported. I shot this film for my grandma, and I edited it for my dad.
I think it’s funny how the Dominican dialect for “For Grandma” is “Pa’ Mama” and I ended up making this for both my Pa and my Mama.
